What Is PPAP Software?

Turn PPAP from a Documentation Scramble into a Controlled Process

The Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is the standardized method — defined by AIAG and required across the automotive supply chain — for proving that a production process can consistently produce parts that meet customer requirements at the quoted production rate. A complete PPAP package can span eighteen distinct evidence elements, each with its own owner, revision state and customer expectations.

Managed manually, PPAP becomes weeks of chasing documents across departments, reconciling revisions, and rebuilding data in submission templates. FAST PPAP Software replaces that scramble with a single controlled workspace: elements are compiled from live module data, gaps are visible on a dashboard, reviews follow customer-specific checklists, and the Part Submission Warrant is generated — not retyped.

Core Message
Your PPAP evidence already exists inside your quality system. FAST PPAP assembles it — instead of making you recreate it.

The 18 PPAP Elements

Every Element. One Package. No Loose Ends.

FAST PPAP structures the full AIAG element set as trackable records with owners, status and revision control — so package completeness is a dashboard fact, not a last-minute discovery.

Design & Engineering Evidence

Design records, engineering change documents and customer engineering approval — held at the correct revision level and linked to the exact part and change they support, so submissions never go out against outdated drawings.

Risk & Process Documentation

Design FMEA, process flow diagram, Process FMEA and control plan — pulled live from the FAST FMEA and planning modules, keeping the risk chain from failure mode to control method consistent across the package.

Measurement & Test Results

MSA studies, dimensional results, material and performance test results, initial process capability studies and qualified laboratory documentation — captured from inspection and MSA modules with the statistics computed automatically.

Approval & Submission Records

Appearance approval report, sample parts, master sample, checking aids, customer-specific requirement records and the Part Submission Warrant — compiled, signed electronically and archived as the approved baseline.

Submission Levels 1–5

The Right Evidence Set for Every Customer — Configured, Not Improvised

PPAP defines five submission levels, from a warrant-only Level 1 to a full on-site Level 5 review. The level dictates exactly which elements must be submitted, which must be retained, and which the customer will review at your site. Getting this wrong means rejected submissions and delayed launches.

In FAST PPAP, the submission level is set per customer and part. The system then marks each of the 18 elements as submit, retain or not applicable, tracks readiness accordingly, and prevents submission until required evidence is complete. Default element sets follow the AIAG manual and can be tailored to customer-specific requirements.

Default Standard
Level 3 — PSW with product samples and complete supporting data — is applied as the default unless the customer specifies otherwise, exactly as AIAG prescribes.

Business Benefits

What Changes When PPAP Goes Digital

Faster Customer Approvals

Complete, correctly structured packages get approved on first submission. Auto-compiled evidence and customer-specific checklists eliminate the rework loops that stall launches for weeks.

Consistent, Current Evidence

Because elements link to live module data, the FMEA revision in the package always matches the FMEA revision on the shop floor — the inconsistency auditors most often find in manual PPAP files.

Launch Visibility for Managers

A live dashboard shows every open PPAP, its element completion, pending approvals and due dates — so programme managers see launch risk before the customer escalates it.

Control over Supplier PPAPs

Incoming supplier packages are tracked with the same rigour — required elements, review status, dispositions and expiry — closing the loop on your own supply chain's part approvals.

Who Uses FAST PPAP

Built for the Teams That Own Part Approvals

New Product & APQP Teams

Prepare customer submissions as the natural output of the APQP project — with milestones, evidence and approvals tracked in the same platform that manages the launch.

Quality Assurance Engineers

Compile dimensional results, capability studies and MSA evidence directly from inspection records — with statistics calculated by the system, not rebuilt in spreadsheets.

Supplier Quality (SQA) Teams

Demand, receive, review and disposition PPAP packages from the supply base — with automatic reminders for incomplete or expiring submissions.

Programme & Plant Managers

Track launch readiness across every open part approval on one dashboard — element completion, pending sign-offs and customer dispositions at a glance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About FAST PPAP Software

Common questions from supplier quality engineers, programme managers and plant heads evaluating PPAP software.

PPAP software is a digital system for compiling, reviewing, submitting and approving Production Part Approval Process packages. It manages all 18 PPAP elements, submission levels 1 to 5, Part Submission Warrants and customer approval workflows in one controlled platform — replacing the scattered spreadsheets, shared-drive folders and email trails that make manual PPAP preparation slow and error-prone.
The 18 PPAP elements defined in the AIAG PPAP manual are: design records, engineering change documents, customer engineering approval, Design FMEA, process flow diagram, Process FMEA, control plan, measurement system analysis (MSA) studies, dimensional results, records of material and performance tests, initial process studies, qualified laboratory documentation, appearance approval report, sample production parts, master sample, checking aids, records of compliance with customer-specific requirements, and the Part Submission Warrant (PSW). FAST PPAP tracks each element as a structured, versioned record inside the package.
Level 1: only the Part Submission Warrant (and appearance approval report where applicable) is submitted to the customer. Level 2: PSW with product samples and limited supporting data. Level 3: PSW with product samples and complete supporting data — the default level in most customer agreements. Level 4: PSW and other requirements as defined by the customer. Level 5: PSW with product samples and complete supporting data made available for review at the supplier's manufacturing site. FAST PPAP configures the required element set automatically based on the level you select.
The Part Submission Warrant is the one-page summary document that fronts the entire PPAP package. It declares the part number, drawing and engineering change level, reason for submission, submission level and the declaration that all results meet customer requirements. It is signed by the supplier and dispositioned by the customer as approved, interim approved or rejected. FAST PPAP generates the PSW automatically from package data, so the warrant always matches the evidence behind it.
APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) is the five-phase planning framework that guides a new product from concept through launch. PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) is the formal evidence package produced near the end of that journey to demonstrate the production process can consistently produce conforming parts at quoted rate. In FAST Quality the two are linked: deliverables created during the APQP project — FMEAs, control plans, MSA studies, capability data — flow directly into the PPAP package without re-entry.
A new or updated PPAP submission is typically required for a new part or product, engineering changes to design records or specifications, a new or modified tool, production from a new or relocated plant, a change of sub-supplier or material source, a process change that affects fit, form or function, or resumption of production after tooling has been inactive for an extended period. FAST PPAP records the reason for submission on the PSW and maintains the revision history of every package, so re-submissions start from the approved baseline instead of a blank sheet.
Yes. FAST PPAP works in both directions. For customer-facing submissions, it compiles and routes your own packages. For your supply base, it tracks which suppliers owe PPAP packages for which parts, checks received submissions for completeness against the required element set, supports structured review and disposition, and sends automatic reminders for incomplete or expiring packages — giving SQA teams one dashboard for the entire supply chain's part approval status.
Yes. FAST PPAP Software is built for automotive and engineering suppliers working under IATF 16949 and AIAG requirements. It is deployed by manufacturers in Pune, Maharashtra and across India — including tier-1 and tier-2 automotive suppliers preparing customer submissions and managing PPAP evidence from their own supplier networks. Cloud and on-premise deployment options are available.
